  • [01] ALBANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER TO SIGN AGREEMENT ON SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT

TIRANA, MAY 17 (ATA) - By F. Vladi : The Albanian Foreign Minister Alfred Serreqi left for an official visit to Greece today on the invitation of his Greek counterpart Theodoros Pangalos to sign an agreement on seasonal employment between Albania and Greece in Athens, a spokesman of the Foreign Ministry said.

He is also expected to sign a consular agreement which will envisage the opening of two consulates in Korca and Thesaloniki, the same source said.

"Serreqi's visit, the invitation of his counterpart Pangalos and the agreements to be signed by both parties are a concrete expression of the cooperation and strengthening of friendship between the two countries after the successful visit of the Greek President Costis Stefanophoulos in Albania," the spokesman said.

He added: "Both diplomatic chiefs will discuss further bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Albania and Greece."

[02] THE DP PROGRAMME - PROGRAMME OF ALBANIA'S SALVATION AND FREEDOM

    - President Berisha meets inhabitants and farmers of Shkodra and Lezha -

TIRANA, MAY 16 (ATA) By F Nikolla - President of the Republic Sali Berisha again confirmed to Shkodra and Lezha constituencies that "The DP programme for the four years to come is that of salvation of Albania, the real programme of national freedom and that future parliament will be the most dignitary in Albania's history".

Berisha said that "with your elections of March 22, you guaranteed your work, your farms and your freedom. We today see this programme realised, and those who put it in life were you."

He continued that "The DP programme is based on your work but even in billions of dollars guaranteed for Albania, a fact which once more shows the faith western world has on the new Albanian farmers, businessmen and Albanians in general.

He said that the DP will strongly back countryside adding "Albanian socialists say they will remove taxes at a time when they speak in their programmes for progressive taxes. I promise you that together we will realise a study on taxes so that they become easier for you."

Berisha paid a visit to the tourist spot of Velipoja in Shkodra where he greeted inhabitants of this zone, remembering martyrs of democracy saying that it was the DP that revived religion in our country.

Parson Don Markaj Ukaj in his greeting said that "every ballot for the DP is at the same time a ballot in favour of Christian religion and religion in general."
