Belgrade, April 2 (Tanjug) - Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic late Tuesday received Assistant US Secretary of State John Kornblum. The most important issues concerning the ical political situation in the region and the development of bilateral relations and cooperation between Yugoslavia and the United States were considered.

It was agreed that the implementation of the peace plan in former zones of hostilities in Bosnia-Herzegovina was progressing successfully, and that the process of strengthening peace and consolidating the situation in the Balkans was stable.

The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia will continue to provide the greatest possible contribution to stregthening peace and equality in relations among peoples and states, developing comprehensive cooperation with foreign partners to the mutual interest.

Federal Foreign Minister Milan Milutinovic also took part in the talks.

[02] MILUTINOVIC CONFERS WITH COUNCIL OF EUROPE REPRESENTATIVE

Belgrade, Apr 2 (Tanjug) - Yugoslav Foreign Minister Milan Milutinovic held a talk on Tuesday with representative of the Council of Europe Michel Flukiger about the reinclusion of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia into all activities of this European organization.

Flukiger, Special Adviser for ex-Yugoslavia to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, pointed out this organization's interest in restoring cooperation with the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

The Yugoslav side undersocred the significance of the Council of Europe for Yugoslavia's future development and its comprehensive reintegration into Europe.

[03] YUGOSLAVIA-IMF, WORLD BANK TALKS CLOSED

Paris, April 2 (Tanjug) - Talks between a delegation of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and a Mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank closed in Paris late Tuesday. The one-week negotiations were Yugoslavia's first talks with leading international financial institutions following a pause of several years.

The dialogue with the IMF and World Bank is expected to resume soon, and perhaps also with the so-called Paris Club of creditors,Yugoslav delegation circles said. The Paris talks showed a mutual desire for Yugoslavia's membership to be activated and its relations with leading world financial institutions renewed, the sources said.

The talks had enabled a comprehensive analysis of Yugoslavia's economic trends and the grave consequences of the years of blockade and sanctions. The Yugoslav delegation asked for international financial-credit support to overcome the effects of the embargo. The IMF and World Bank mission showed understanding for this request.

The Yugoslav delegation's platform at the talks was along the lines of securing the political and legal continuity of the former Yugoslavia in international organizations.

[04] YUGOSLAVIA PLAYS IMPORTANT ROLE IN DANUBE COMMISSION, SAYS OFFICIAL

Belgrade, Apr 2 (Tanjug) - Yugoslav Deputy Premier Nikola Sainovic and Yugoslav Minister for Traffic and Communications Zoran Vujovic conferred on Tuesday with Gyoergy Misur and Danube Commission Heads from Austria and Ukraine. Sainovic had indicated the importance placed by Yugoslavia on security of traffic on the Danube and cooperation in areas related to this international waterway. Misur said it was fortunate the organization had maintained relations with Yugoslavia, which had been one of the founders of the Danube Commission.

[05] NEW BOOK ON CRISIS IN FORMER YUGOSLAVIA RELEASED IN BELGRADE

Belgrade, April 2 (Tanjug) - A book in English titled the Yugoslav Crisis and the World - January 1990 - December 1995 by Brana Markovic was released in Belgrade on Tuesday. Yugoslav Deputy Foreign Minister Radoslav Bulajic said at the release ceremony at Belgrade's Institute of International Politics and Economy that the book, in which he said events that had occurred in the former Yugoslavia over the past five years had been presented in a chronological, objective and analytical manner, would help better understand all that had happened.

Bulajic said Yugoslavia had experienced tragic moments triggered by secessions of some of the former Yugoslav republics as well as by the UN sanctions against the country, and said the time had come for the country to turn to peace and economic recovery.

'Markovic's book will be of great use to the Foreign Ministry, too, both in analysing the past events and in indicating which course should be taken in the future,' he said.

[B] REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

[06] SECOND MASS GRAVE OF BOSNIAN SERBS OPENED IN WESTERN REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

Banjaluka, April 2 (Tanjug) - The second mass grave of Bosnian Serbs was opened on Tuesday at the Christian Orthodox cemetary in the town of Mrkonjic Grad in western Republika Srpska, which experts say contains bodies of mostly women and old people. A total of 110 bodies have been exhumed from the two mass graves to date. It is estimated that the graves contain more than 200 bodies of murdered Serb troops and civilians. Twenty bodies have been identified so far.

The bodies belong to Serbs killed in an offensive launched by joint Bosnian Croat and Croatian regular army troops against western parts of the Republika Srpska last autumn.

One of the bodies was identified as belonging to a 74-year-old man. There were no injuries caused by firearms on the body, but on his head there were traces of blows inflicted with a blunt object. A body from which all extremities had been cut off was also digged out. A number of bodies had burns caused by a welding apparatus, but most of the injuries were head injuries, inflicted with a blunt object.

A full analysis will be conducted on the strength of findings by a team of experts, led by Zoran Stankovic, pathologist from Belgrade's Military Academy Hospital.

According to Stankovic, injuries on the bodies indicate that the victims were tortured in a brutal manner.

[C] ENVIRONMENT

[07] SKADARSKO JEZERO LAKE PROCLAIMED AREA OF INTERNATIONAL IMPORTANCE

Belgrade, Apr 2 (Tanjug) - A section of the Skadarsko Jezero lake which belongs to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia has been proclaimed a swamp area of international importance according to the provisions in the Ramsar Convention. The Yugoslav Secretariat for Development, Sciences and Environment has received a diploma which confirms that this area as of December 15, 1995, became an area of international importance.

This represents a great recognition to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and to its engagement on the protection of environment, while affirming Yugoslavia's outstanding and authentic natural wealth available.

The Skadarsko Jezero, or the swampy-marshy lake, as it is called, is the largest in the Balkans, situated on the Yugoslav-Albanian border. It spreads on an area of 391 sq.km, or up to 550 sq.km at high winter water levels, with average depths of 5-6 metres. On the Yugoslav side, it has several smaller-sized islets. It abounds in fish.

[D] FROM FOREIGN PRESS

[08] ISLAMIC TERRORISTS IN FRANCE RECEIVE WEAPONS FROM BOSNIA

Paris, April 2 (Tanjug) - Allah's warriors in France have been receiving weapons for their terrorist actions from Bosnia-Herzegovina, the French daily Le Figaro said on Tuesday. Last week in Roubaix in northern France, French anti-terrorist forces killed five commandoes and found documents and propaganda material of the Islamic terrorist movement and large quantities of weapons smuggled from the Muslim-controlled parts of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Le Figaro said that Islamic commandoes went to Bosnia as members of an Islamic 'charity' organization, which was a facade for arms smuggling. On their return, commandoes had astonishing quantities of arms, the daily said.

French authorities earlier discovered and eliminated a group of jihad fighters in Lyon. Last summer, two very well-armed and trained groups of commandoes in Lyon and Roubaix carried out a number of terrorist operations. Seven people were killed and more than 150 others were wounded in their operation in Paris.

Allah's warriors declared the 'holy war' against France until it became a purely Islamic country.

The large network of Islamic terrorism in Europe leads to Bosnia too. In this context, sources here mention secret centres for terrorist actions and training for jihad which were discovered by the multinational force in Bosnia.

After an investigation, France established that a number of banks and supermarkets had been the target of Islamic commandoes' attacks. Islamic terrorism has, in fact, started to go hand in hand with banditry in an attempt to secure funds for the purchase of arms and financing of different terrorist activities.

It was also established that mosques served as bases for Islamic commandoes. One of them, Kristof Caze, who converted to Islam, was engaged in the underground movement and used to go to Bosnia to smuggle weapons. His mother now accuses the French Government for admitting 'all those Islamic fanatics who ostensibly come to study and actually work on propaganda and recruiting of our youth.'
