[03] CILLER: TURKEY HAS A SAY IN WEU

On her return from a Western European Union (WEU) Council of Ministers meeting, Foreign Minister Tansu Ciller said agreement was reached on Turkey's participation in all stages of operations for which the WEY would use NATO facilities. Ciller said that Turkey's next goal was full membership in the WEU, the designated defence arm of the European Union.

Ciller said that she had also met with her Greek counterpart Pangalos and added: "We both want to continue with dialogue and we hope that the "committee of wise men" will meet at the end of June, if not sooner." She noted that Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Onur Oymen would visit Greece by the end of this month.
