NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - After the two hours talks with the High international Representative for B&H Carlos Westendorp the president of RS Biljana Plavsic stated that from him she has demanded the explanation of some sentences of Luxembourg document which are contradictory to the Dayton agreement. "The deviation from Dayton causes the fear of all of us", stressed Mrs. Plavsic, adding that we are worried whether the peace will last not only in the region of B&H but also in the wider region. She also stressed that Luxembourg declaration must be harmonised with the Peace Agreement from Dayton. The High Representative Carlos Westendorp has stressed that the stance of the international community is not to allow modification of Peace agreement from Dayton and that in Luxembourg documents there is no deviations from Dayton agreement, but, according to him, there is the mistake in formulation.

BANJA LUKA - The president of Republika Srpska /RS/ Biljana Plavsic has received, in the pause of the assembly session in Banja Luka, the newly appointed president of National Assembly of RS Petar Djokic and congratulated to him the nomination, asking simultaneously about the work of this highest legislative body. Stressing that today for the first time he met president of RS, Djokic has stated for SRNA that he informed Mrs. Plavsic in details about the continuation of the work of sixth session of National Assembly, after what were exchanged opinions about "some actual relations and situation in RS". "I think that meeting with the president Plavsic is very good thing for me, because I could hear a series of useful things from her and in the same time I had opportunity to inform her about the work of parliament after conducted changes in its leadership" - said president of the National Assembly.

BANJA LUKA - The president of RS Government Milorad Dodik talked in Banja Luka with the High international representative for B&H Carlos Westendorp about the privatisation in RS and harmonising documents of the Steering Board of the Council for implementation of the Dayton Agreement adopted in Luxembourg. After the meeting behind the closed doors Dodik said that "the process of privatisation will be performed exclusively at the level of entities and that the legal solutions will not be discriminatory". "We have agreed forming of the joint mechanism at the level of B&H because of the control of the process of privatisation" - explained the president of RS Governments.

BANJA LUKA - The minister of the Internal Affairs of RS Milovan Stankovic has confirmed in Banja Luka that 16 members of the police station in Teslic were suspended, and that against 20 the investigation is underway because of violation of the authorities. At the press conference Stankovic explained that "these workers in three cases violated their authorisation in December last year and twice in February this year, during detention of persons in official premises", adding that all those persons are citizens of RS and different nationals.

SARAJEVO - The American Ambassador to B&H Richard Causlarich stated that Washington will not permit any revision of Dayton Agreement and that it will continue to insist on its full implementation. In the interview for the Sarajevo "Dnevni avaz", which report conveys the Croatian radio Herceg Bosna, Causlarich has asserted that with the approaching elections in B&H from different sides are coming invitations for modifying the peace agreement.

PRISTINA - The refugee from Knin Slobodan Bogavac /30/ was injured by knife in the shop "Kamlem" in the settlement Valnija in Pristina, where instead of bottle of wine from the seller he has got first the swears and the message that "Serbs has nothing to look for at Kosovo anymore", and after that more hits with knife into his face. The assailant was also assisted by the owner of the neighbouring shop, who hit him with axe on hand, and after that shooting from handgun, while Bogovac tried to run away from the shop.

PODUJEVO - The Albanian terrorists lasts night from the safe distance opened fire at the check-points of MUP in the region of municipality Podujevo - confirmed for SRNA the local authorities.

DJAKOVICA - In the fear from the Albanian terrorists 92 Serbian families, i. s. 700 civilians, has fled from the surroundings of Djakovica into this city - learns SRNA in the municipality. The fled population was accommodated in their cousins homes, city hotel and secondary boarding school.

MOSCOW - The Russia is making efforts for peaceful solution of Kosovo problem, for what were created the favourable prerequisites after the recent talks of presidents of Russia Boris Jeltzin and FR Yugoslavia Slobodan Milosevic. Such assessment was presented by the sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, after the newest threats which are coming from particular western centres about the need of use the force in Kosovo by NATO. Now is most important, is said in the Russian Ministry, that as soon as possible start the dialogue of the representatives of authorities and Albanians, what only can lead to lasting and secure solving of Kosovo problem.

BELGRADE - The Kosovo crisis is on the turning point from which in next several weeks should be directed towards the diplomatic solution or military escalation and intervention of NATO, assessed in Belgrade the spokesman of the Democratic Party of Serbia /DSS/ Milorad Jovanovic. At the press conference he stressed that the main obstacle for diplomatic solution is the Albanian terroristic organisation KLA /liberation army of Kosovo/, which target is creating the territory which they will control and by that, as party in war, get the right to participate in negotiations.

BELGRADE - The Congregational People's Party /SNS/ has expressed the astonishment with the news that the secretary general of NATO Javier Solana has received Ibrahim Rugova. "Although Rugova in the West is understood as the representative of those Albanian forces which are putting their attempts into the tries to solve the problem in the peaceful and democratic way, it is only sowing mist and smoke curtain for all that is demanded by Adem Demaci, Bujar Bukosi, Fehmi Agani, Ljuljeta Pulja-Beciri, and that is the independent Kosovo out of Serbia and federal state" - is said in the announcement of SNS forwarded to SRNA.

MOSTAR - The basic tasks of the Croatian Democratic Union /HDZ/ of B&H in the next period will be the reconstruction within the party, relocation of the seat from Mostar to Sarajevo and consistent implementation of the Dayton Agreement - stated the president of HDZ B&H Ante Jelavic. At the last night's public tribune of HDZ in Sarajevo held under the title "Actual political movements in B&H" Jelavic said that the allegations of the leaders of the New Croatian Initiative, party formed from the split wing of HDZ, about the conflict of concepts and programme commitments of these two parties.

BANJA LUKA - The delegates of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska /RS/ in the continuation of the sixth session have adopted the laws on amendments and supplements of the Law on the profit of enterprises and the Law on contributions, as well as the Law on taxes for renewal and development of RS. Explaining the Proposal of the Law on amendments and supplements of the Law on contributions the Finance minister Novak Kondic said that the RS Government while preparing this proposal taken into consideration "clearly economic needs", on what the delegate of the Serbian Radical Party has replied that, according to his opinion, actually this represent the "political marketing".

SARAJEVO - The deputy minister of the Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers of B&H Dragan Bozanic has received in the farewell work visit the Ambassador of United Kingdom Charles Crawford, to whom he thanked for the support to RS and its equal treatment with the Federation B&H. The particular gratitude Bozanic has expressed to the Government of Great Britain and its Ambassador in assistance in signing the Luxembourg Declaration about the special relations of EU and B&H, by which was inaugurated the chain of work of the consulting expert group, which can help that the laws and regulations of EU could be implemented in B&H.

SARAJEVO - The Cabinet of the president from RS in the Presidency of B&H Momcilo Krajisnik has assessed that the statement of the co-presiding of the Council of Ministers of B&H Haris Silajdzic, in which he offers the territory of B&H as the base for military intervention of NATO in Kosmet, comes out of from the mandate and authorisation which Mr. Silajdzic wields. In the announcement forwarded to SRNA is stated that the "statement of co- presiding of the Council of Ministers only one in the series of statements which make the integral part of Silajdzic's policy and extreme wing of the parties in the Federation B&H which are putting their efforts into the continuation of war and is directed against Serbs". "There is a question by which order and authorisation Mr. Silajdzic is in Tokyo and represent B&H, because for something like that he has no authorisation of the Presidency of B&H:", is stressed in the announcement.

PODGORICA - The U.S. state secretary Madeleine Albright has informed the president of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic that the citizens and Government of this republic is exempted from the sanctions imposed to FR Yugoslavia /FRY/. In the special message to the Montenegro president is explained that on the basis of the general approval of the Finance Ministry of U.S.A. from June 18 were approved transactions from American persons which include the property in which the Government of Montenegro has interest or share".
