NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

ATHENS - The Republika Srpska (RS) President Biljana Plavsic stated, in the end of the official visit to Greece, that "pleading for the spirit of the Dayton Peace Accord and not strict observing of its regulations is very dangerous", and if the international community wants peace in the Balkans must plead for B&H to be a state divided in two equal entities". Biljana Plavsic assessed her visit to Greece as very successful because she had an opportunity to talk with Greek counterparts about all current problems, above all about situation in B&H and implementation of the Dayton Peace Accord and about critical situation in Kosovo and Metohija. Speaking about the implementation of the Peace Agreement she emphasised the need for its consistent implementation and expressed fear that different interpretations of the Accord "might bring B&H in worse situation from one that caused the war."

SARAJEVO - New mandate for 35,000 SFOR soldiers is about to begin in B&H which according to a decision of the UN Security Council should control fulfilling of the Dayton Accord, signed in 1995. The NATO commander in chief Wesley Clark said in Sarajevo on June 19th that the SFOR troops in the framework of a new mandate would have a support of a special NATO unit. "That unit is under Italian command and it has been trained for fights against eventual mass riots.

BIJELJINA - With religious service and breaking of Slava cake with presence of a commander of the Third Corps of the RS Army (VRS) general Momir Zec in Bijeljina a Patron Saint's Day Sveti Car Lazar has been marked. The holly liturgy was attended by members of the Third Corps, soldiers, men from political, public and cultural life of this Municipality.

ROME - Italian "Espresso" said that "according to information from different sources of the U.S. secret services, a key role in flight of Ante Pavelic and 1,500 ustashas played Croatian Pope Association Sveti Jeronimo Ilirski from Rome". The Association gave to war criminals "sacred haven" and one of the key "rat channels" organised by the U.S. counterintelligence OS, forerunner of the CIA" said the "Espresso".

PRNJAVOR - At the fourth open championship of the Balkans in kick boxing and after first day Ukraine won eight and FRY six gold medals - said president of the Balkans kick-boxing federation Borislav Pelevic. According to him FRY won 112 points , Ukraine 102, BJRM 36, Hungary 27 and RS 24 points.

ROME - The International Work Seminar for judges and prosecutors is holding in Rome, for five days now, at which participate 26 judges, prosecutors and other legal experts from Republika Srpska (RS) and FB&H - confirmed for SRNA Assistant of the RS Minister of Justice Dragan Podinic. According to the Seminar agenda, which will last until June 26th, 34 subjects will be discussed - from the UN programme for preventing of criminality and criminal justice all the way to the role of the criminal justice in transitional countries. The Seminar is holding with a support of the Italian Ministry of Justice and Foreign Affairs Ministry and the RS and FB&H Ministry of Justice.

BELGRADE - FRY Foreign Affairs Minister Zivadin Jovanovic and Deputy Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Nikolaj Afanasijevski stressed in Belgrade importance of the Yugoslavian and Russian President statement regarding solving of the situation in Kosmet through a direct and unconditional dialogue. Joint statement of two Presidents "gives full support to further development of bilateral relations and cooperation in all areas of mutual interest". After the meeting in Belgrade Afanasijevski went to Pristina where he should have talks with local Serb representatives and ethnic Albanian parties.

PRISTINA - Oliver Zajic,18, succumbed to his wounds got in the attack of Albanian terrorists on the village of Dusevic near Klina - Media centre in Pristina announced. This attack was third one in the last 24 hours.
