NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BELGRADE - The President of the Government of Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik and FRY Yugoslavia Foreign Affairs Minister Zivadin Jovanovic had talks in Belgrade about improvement of relations between RS and FRY. In an announcement issued after the meeting is said that it was " a friendly exchange of opinions", but there was no information about topics at the meeting.

VIENNA - The FB&H President Ejup Ganic warned in Vienna that " if the International Arbitrational Tribunal for the region of Brcko make a decision about Brcko to stay within RS then there will be no peace in B&H for much longer". At the press-conference Ganic repeated his stance that Brcko should stay within FB&H because,as he put it, "Brcko represents door to Europe for FB&H".

BELGRADE - Draft Law on confirming of Agreement on citizenship between FRY and B&H has been signed last year and dispatched to the FRY Assembly. Yugoslav Foreign Affairs Minister Milan Milutinovic and President in B&H presidency from RS Momcilo Krajisnik have signed this agreement on December in 1997.

LONDON - Britain has launched a drive to speed EU aid to Republika Srpska, will use her position as chairman of EU in order for that initiative to be realised - International Development Secretary Clare Short said on Wednesday in London. Giving evidence to parliament's defence Committee Short said that EU had "a disgraceful track record" in disbursing aid to RS which had already been sanctioned. She also said that it was vital that the people of RS should quickly see benefits from the election of the new Government"- SRNA correspondent reports.

BANJALUKA - Republic Syndicate forwarded to the RS Government invitation for negotiations in which it demands creation of conditions for increasing of capacity to 40%, employment to 300.000 workers, and the lowest price of work to amount to 100 DM.In an invitation, that was signed by Syndicate president Cedo Volas, have been issued 18 problems, by which solving the economic-social position of workers would be improved in 1998.

BELGRADE - UNHCR spokesman Mons Nibert urged on all refugees in Belgrade and FRY,who want to return to B&H and Croatia, to sign up for voluntary repatriation. There is no time line for signing up.

SREBRENICA - Representatives of Swedish firm "Glass Internatioanl" visited "Energoinvest" Galvanising Factory in Potocari near Srebrenica with intention to be informed with technology and production programmes of this enterprise as well as economic conditions and possible purchase of the factory. Mr. Nils Fardi from Swedish Company stated for SRNA that both sides in first round of talks have presented plans and possibilities and conditions for future production.

VIENNA - Judge from Brcko and President of the Association for Refugees and Displaced Persons in Brcko Milorad Zivlak confirmed before the Arbitration Commission for inter-entity boundary line (IEBL) in the region of Brcko, which is in session in Vienna, that the results of elections were completely implemented as well as in judiciary and in administration of justice. "Zivlak denied statements of FB&H representatives that there were no 27,000 refugees and displaced persons in Brcko and called attention to problems of return of refugees concerning, above all, legal, economic problems and physical insecurity" - stated for SRNA Dragoljub Mirjanic, the RS vice-president.

SARAJEVO - Co-presiding of the Council of Ministers Boro Bosic had talks with the Iran Ambassador in B&H Muhamed Ebrahin Taherian about possibilities of bilateral cooperation between B&h and Iran - is stated from Bosic's Cabinet.

SARAJEVO - Co-presiding of the Council of Ministers Boro Bosic warned after return from Sarajevo's Central Prison where he had visited Goran Vasic that this case, " no matter how it ends, can provoke difficult political consequences". "Vasic is in a very bad physical and health conditions after, not the arrest but kidnapping because he was kidnapped, and after everything that he went through" - stated Bosic to the press in Srpsko Sarajevo. He also emphasised:" The most relevant issue at this moment is what the international community will do against culprits of this excess".

SARAJEVO - The President of the Ilidza Municipal Assembly Obren Zeljaja send word to fellow citizens, relatives and friends of arrested Goran Vasic to stay dignified and to do everything to avoid incidents. Zeljaja had talks with members of a Protest Board and asked them for the manifestations and gatherings to stay in peaceful and dignified manner.
