SARAJEVO - The president of the Government of Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik announced in Pale that the Government supported concept of strengthening and building of Srpsko Sarajevo in accordance with true possibilities and needs of its inhabitants. After a meeting with leadership of the City Assembly and municipal assemblies in its composition, Dodik said that "one of the first forms of help is making a fixed legal project, according to which tax incomes would be directed toward the City Assembly". Assessing the visit of the Prime Minister the mayor of Srpsko Sarajevo Mirko Sarovic emphasised that representatives of the Government and the City Assembly have had very successful talks on concept of building of Srpsko Sarajevo, which realisation had begun last year. The vice-president of RS Government for administration and local self-government Ostoja Kremenovic stated for the press that "all previous employees of the Government will get appropriate job in accordance with their qualifications, and in that way nobody will lose his job".

BANJALUKA - Serbian Intellectual Forum (SIF) from Banjaluka forwarded an open letter to International Community High Representative for B&H Carlos Westendopr expressing their discontent because of announcements of possible suspension. i. e. change of adopted design, contents and symbols on passports. "In that way you would make worthless both beginning results and efforts for reconciliation of stances of all three nations in B&H" - is said in the letter.

BANJALUKA - The vice-president of the Alternative Council of B&H Council of Ministers and president of Social-liberal Party (SLS) of RS Miodrag Zivanovic left for Bonn, where he will have talks with German Minister of Foreign Affairs Claus Kinkel and high officials of Bundestag. After the meting in Bonn Zivanovic will go to Paris on the invitation of the French Minister of Foreign Affairs Hubert Vedrine, where he will have talks with French diplomats - has been announced from the Office of Alternative Council of B&H Council of Ministers in Banjaluka.

VIENNA - RS vice-president Dragoljub Mirjanic stated for SRNA that the former chief of OSCE Mission in B&H Robert Frowick has expressed strong support to RS president Biljana Plavsic who, as he put it, initiated democratic processes in the Republik, at the Arbitration session for a part of inter-entity line in the region of Brcko. According to Mirjanic, Frowick said that elections held in 1996 and 1997 have been democratic, assessed forming of the new RS Government as very positive and expressed hope that it would fully carry out the Dayton Peace Agreement. RS vice-president and chief of RS delegation at the session in Vienna has confirmed that representatives of FB&H have insisted on "economic importance of Brcko for the region of Tuzla".

VIENNA - The legal advisor of RS president Milan Dupor stated for SRNA in Vienna that "inhabitants of RS should not get upset about future decision on a part of inter-entity boundary line in the region of Brcko and be deceived by inflammable statements". Dupor emphasised that during the arbitration session "no one has spoken about right of exchange, transaction and fair compensation for property", but, as he said, "main point of the discussion was return of refugees to Brcko". According to Dupor, " the mayor of Tuzla Selim Beslagic tried to prejudice the decision", stating that this town should stay in hands of both sides under the international supervision".

SARAJEVO - Plenipotentiary RS and FB&H ministers have signed an Agreement (Memorandum of Understanding) on the railways across inter-entity lines, which is the first step toward complete establishing of railroad transportation - said Deputy High Representative of the International Community in B&H Jacques Klein at a press-conference in the federal part of Sarajevo, and conveyed Reuters. Klein's assistants said that trains should began operating in six weeks.

PRIJEDOR - Association of Refugees and Displaced Persons of municipalities of Western Krajina adopted two declarations on return of refugees and displaced persons - a general political declaration, which demands return of refugees from Western Krajina to their former homes, and the other referring to return of refugees from Sanski Most to Prijedor and other way around. Removing of all those who are interfering with return of refugees and extradition of accused of war crimes to the Hague Tribunal have been required also, and the international community is expected to consistently carry out Annex 7 of the Dayton Agreement and all municipalities of former Bosanska Krajina to be proclaimed open.

SARAJEVO - Although through Employment Bureau more persons have been employed in this year then in the first postwar year, a number of registered unemployed persons in RS is considerably increased, primarily because of demobilisation of soldiers of RS Army. Most of persons on the list of municipal employment bureaus are unqualified and qualified, while the end of the list is reserved for persons with university-level specialist's training.
