NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The co-presiding of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of B&H Slobodan Bijelic concluded late last night the 6th extraordinary session because the concordance was not reached about the proposal of the Serbian party and Office of the High representatives /OHR/ to pass the decision by which will be accelerated the verification of the Agreement on double citizenship with FR Yugoslavia /FRY/. After the tempestuous discussion and more hours pauses and consultation was not adopted neither the Proposal on citizenship, because the delegates of the Party of Democratic Action /SDA/ and Party for B&H conditioned it by separation the discussion from the one about double citizenship, although the opinion of OHR is that this issue should be considered in the framework of the unique entirety. Before the discussion about this issue the House of Representatives adopted the Law on passports. The session of the House of people had to be held yesterday beginning at 14,00 h, but the presiding Avdo Campara called it off half of an hour before beginning, not waiting the appearance of the delegate from Republika Srpska /RS/.

SARAJEVO - The presiding of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of B&H Slobodan Bijelic stated after the extraordinary sixth session that Serbian delegates are not responsible for failing to adopt the Proposal of the law on citizenship. He stressed that with th delegates of the Coalition for democratic B&H were not harmonised the stances about the Agreement about double citizenship of FRY for citizens of B&H, stressing that the delegates of the Party of Democratic Action /SDA/ and Party for B&H required existence of only B&H citizenship. Bijelic added that eventual independent decision of Carlos Westendorp could be in accordance with the proposal of his office, i.e. to realise the agreement on double citizenship with FRY.

SARAJEVO - The president in the B&H Presidency from Republika Srpska (RS) Momcilo Krajisnik emphasised that the Law of citizenship has been reconciled, but Muslim side wants to make problematic the obligation of accepting double citizenship with FR Yugoslavia. Krajisnik thinks that the other party wants "to gain time". During today's meeting in Pale with Yakov Gerasimov, the chief of the Russian Mission in Sarajevo, Krajisnik emphasised that the Serbian side insists on adoption of laws and accepting the Statement of the Presidency, by which the double citizenship is made possible.

Dragan Kalinic received in farewell visit the chief of Mission of International Red Cross for B&H Pier Crembile and thanked him for objective and constructive humanitarian aid. In statement are cited words of Kalinic that role of the International Red Cross is priceless in reconstruction of social and health infrastructure of RS.

BANJALUKA - Representatives of Economic Councils of RS and Slovenia discussed in Banjaluka the possibility of more intensive economic cooperation between the two republics, i.e. regions of Banjaluka and Kranj, as well as reconstruction of pre-war works. "We think that reviving the economy is the priority of RS, and the task of businessmen is to provide the most possible employment of capacities and to make possible employment for the largest number of workers" - emphasised the director of the enterprise "Microelectronic" which is in composition of "Cajavec Holding" Dragan Prastalo.

BELGRADE - The director of the Institute for Nuclear Research "Vinca" Miroslav Kopecni stated that NATO troops have bombed RS with the pieces of impoverished uranium with increased radiation. He added that the "basic power of that armament is not to kill with radiation, but with kinetic energy".

ATHENS - The League of Nations in Greece, in cooperation with Piraeus Municipality, have organised " The Celebration of Christmas and New Year's Holidays in the World", at which 12 countries were represented, among which was RS, for the first time equal with USA, China, Japan, Greece and other countries. At this celebration RS was represented by Mirko Tomasovic and group of young people who were carrying the flag of RS.

BANJALUKA - The president of Party of Independent Social- Democrats Milorad Dodik blamed for not adopting the Agreement on the Double Citizenship of B&H and FRY the Muslim party, and added that "all obstructions of Muslim related to the passports, flag and citizenship are connected with the Bonn Conference". He announced the coalition with Serbian National Union (SNS) and Socialist Party of RS in establishing the Government of experts.

BIJELJINA - The director of the Office for Privatisation and Development of RS Aleksa Nojevic stated in Bijeljina from November 18 in 80 Centres for Privatisation 150,000 citizens have been additionally filed, and the registration will last until December 18. In his statement for SRNA he assessed that interest of citizens in this process is growing every day.

PODGORICA - Miodrag Raicevic, the director of the Office for Public Works of Montenegro stated for SRNS that the building of the line of communications Trebinje-Herceg Novi will be priority task in the field of traffic infrastructure in Montenegro in next few years, emphasising that this project will be financed by common funds.

PRISTINA - To seventeen Albanians from Kosovo, accused for series of terroristic attacks from 1992. to the beginning of this year, sentences of prison from four to twenty years have been pronounced in Pristina, while two convicted persons were released. All accused are members of the secret Albanian organisation "Liberation army of Kosovo", which is fighting for secession of this Province from Serbia.

BELGRADE - The humanitarian assistance in 1998 will be "more than half reduced, so this right will have only around 80,000 refugees and expelled persons in Yugoslavia". The international humanitarian organisations stated earlier that there stocks were decreased, and that because of that they must reduce the aid which they are delivering to Yugoslavia, because it do not belong to the crisis areas.

SARAJEVO - After the third round of the Second international grand master chess tournament "Jahorina '97", played last night in the hotel Bistrica on Jahorina, leading are Velimirovic, Ilincic and Georgiev, with 2 points each, while Kosic, Drasko, Ivanisevic, Spasov, Vukic and Damjanovic have 1,5 points each, and Michail, Zontag and Blagojevic have one point. The parties of the Fourth round will be played at 15,00 h.

SARAJEVO - The minister of Sport and Youth of RS Rajko Papovic congratulated yesterday to the "te-qwan-do" representative Radomir Kablar, his club "ROmania Pale", and "Te-qwan-do" association of RS the winning the silver medal in the heavy weight category at the European junior championship in Warshaw.
