DOBOJ - The Police Station in Doboj issued a communique characterising the incident between SFOR personnel and dwellers of the village of Plocnik (6km along the Doboj-Derventa road) as 'the people's reaction on establishing of the SFOR check points'. BRCKO - The head of the Main Office of the Serbian Democratic Party of Serbian Lands, Vlado Vrkes, stated in Brcko that 'the forcible capturing of authority at the Police Station in Prnjavor is a part of the scenario for destroying of RS and creating of a special region to be integrated into B&H some time later'. 'Such a policy of the president Plavsic and political parties', who are only interested in the territory stretching from Prijedor to Modrica, unfortunately, is supported by a part of the international organisations, but first of all by SFOR, which exceeded their mandate and the Dayton Agreement', stated Vrkes for SRNA after a session of the Brcko branch [Municipal Board] of the SDS. PRNJAVOR - Out of desire and endeavours for preventing a chaos and Serbian blood to be shed in Prnjavor, the SDS decided to return the legitimate leadership of the Police Station by a democratic and diplomatic way, announced the Prnjavor branch of the SDS. CHICAGO - The former US envoy to B&H, Richard Holbrooke, stated in an interview for the 'Chicago Tribune' that the international forces under the NATO command, including the US soldiers, must stay in RS and the Federation of B&H even after their mandate expires in June, 1998. While warning that a withdrawal would be an irresponsible move - 'just as if you would withdraw the team that is winning just before the very end of the match', Holbrooke assessed that when the SFOR mandate expires, Europeans would not, for sure, succeed in stabilising peace in RS and the FB&H without Americans. VUKOVAR - The president of the Joint Council of Municipalities of the Sremsko-baranjska district, Milos Vojnovic, talked in Vukovar with the British ambassador to Croatia, Colin Endrews, about the current situation in the region, the problems of return of displaced persons and the establishment of a legal system. As the Croatian Radio-Herceg-Bosnia reports, while denying the assertions that the investigation into a car-bomb in the western part of Mostar is being conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Croatia, Coric stated that 'the federal police can participate in the investigation, but only as observers, as well as IPTF'. While citing Croatian press, AFP asserts that as of August 6, when the ship started cruising the Adriatic SFOR was rejecting to approve such unloading of a ship, offering an explanation that this is not in the scope of the US 'Equip and Train' programme planned for the FB&H Army. But, it is not specified why now SFOR violated this attitude in principle. /end/Copyright © Srpska Novinska Agencija - SRNA Republika SrpskaFrom the Serbian Unity Congress Server at http://www.suc.orgSrpska Republica News Agency (SRNA) Directory - Previous Article - Next Article |
