NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

ZUBACKA UBLA - The president of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (RS), Dragan Kalinic, underlined that the current crisis in RS must be dealt with by democratically elected institutions, otherwise both people and state could end up in an anarchy and become an easy plunder for others. "At stake is, I am convinced, a political fight against the Serbian Democratic Party, which is the most deserving for the organisation of the Serbian people against a new genocide and for creation of the Serbian national and democratic state", stated Kalinic, and added "liberty came after the up-rise". While speaking at the rally in Zubacka Ubla, near Trebinje, Kalinic said that "fight against criminal and fight for a legal state are the original SDS principles, so Assembly or any other state institution will not act as protectors of criminal".

SRPSKO GORAZDE - The RS prime minister, Gojko Klickovic stated in Srpsko Gorazde that the recovery of destroyed and damaged residential buildings must be intensified which would allow the housing of as large as possible number of Serb refuges from Gorazde and other cities in the Federation of B- H. Klickovic assessed that satisfactory results were achieved in the activation of economic potentials, and announced an emergency assistance from the RS Government for the reconstruction of "Refrigerated Warehouse" and "Unimet" wire factory.

TREBINJE - The Serbs have no right to quarrel, because this is the time when we have to preserve what we have achieved, stated the deputy in the RS Assembly, Bozidar Vucurevic, at the people's rally "Liberty came after up- rise" in Zubacka Ubla, near Trebinje. The RS Army 7th Corps commander, major-general Rodoljub Andjic reminded those present that "words should not endanger that achieved by the blase of sword."

DOBOJ - Domicile residents and Serb refugees, living in the Doboj community of Svjetlicina, together with their neighbours from Poljice condemned Muslim attacks on Serbs and their earlier entries into these villages. "Muslim attacks on Serbs visiting their homes in Vogosca proved that there is no place for Serbs in the Federation of B-H. We are committed for the reciprocity in returns, but the Muslims contend it by their aggressive behaviour", assessed residents of Svjetlicina.

SARAJEVO - The Croatian Army (HV), went on aggression on the rest of the Republic of the Srpska Krajina (RSK) in an intention to destroy it, expel the Serbs and expand its territory with their land. The operation called "Storm" was carried out with participation of 138,500 HV members, police and HVO - the resistance thereof was offered by 31,000 Serb Army of the Krajina (SVK) members, reads SRNA's commentary.

DOBOJ - The head of the Centre for Voters Registration Inspection in Doboj, Snezana Garic stated that 3,556 or 8.2 per cent voters checked their names on voters lists. Errors in registration were corrected in case of 990 voters, out of 3,430 errors discovered by the Centre.

SREBRENICA - The inspection of voters lists was finished in Srebrenica, with 146 out of 186 appeals by voters listed for polling in the Federation accepted.

BONN - Germany suspended contacts with the B-H Embassy to Bonn. The official announcement from the cabinet of the German foreign minister, Klaus Kinkel, explains that the act followed recommendations from the high representative of the international community, Carlos Westendorp, who announced sanctions because Sintra deadlines were not honoured.

SARAJEVO - High representative, Carlos Westendorp accused Federal partners - Muslims and Croats - of obstructing agreement on embassies and bureaus, and announced his recommendations to all international elements to suspend their diplomatic relations with the current B-H diplomatic bodies, comprised mostly by Muslim diplomats.

BEOGRAD - A commemoration to a Swiss Archibald Reis - Serb friend, who came to Serbian as neutral observer upon invitation of the Serbian Government in 1914 - was held today at the Topcidersko Brdo in Belgrade. This Swiss, professor of criminology at the University in Lausanne, who, when asked by Vojvoda Misic, spent the rest of his life in Serbia, wrote in world press about crimes against the Serbs committed by Austro-Hungarian Army in WWI.

ZAGREB - His Eminency, Metropolitan Zagrebacko-Ljubljanski i cele Italije, Jovan, served the holy liturgy in the St. Elliah church in Zadar. The church was opened for this occasion for the first time since expulsion of Serb residents in autumn 1991, and the service was attended by about a hundred remaining Orthodox believers.

MOSTAR - Protests by several thousand Jajce residents because of "irresponsible and ever massive" return of Muslims to the villages of this municipality, which started on Friday morning, continued through the weekend in the villages of Rucina, four kms from the town centre, and in the village of Zasinje, on the road for Banjaluka. Croatian Radio Herzeg- Bosnia reports that the Jajce residents decided to block the roads because the Muslims failed to live up to agreement to halt the uncontrolled return and that they intend to continue the protest until the withdrawal of the last illegally returned Muslim.

SARAJEVO - High representative, Carlos Westendorp, criticised Croat behaviour in Jajce, where new evictions of Muslim returnees took place. He said IPTF would carry out an investigation into the incidents in which British SFOR troops had to involve themselves. Investigation results would be published in seven days. In a joint letter to Federal authorities, the high representative, UN and SFOR underlined "there are indications of the local police involvement in these incidents."

SARAJEVO - In the area of the Livanjski canton, which resembles neighbouring Croatia by hoisted symbols, more than it indicates of the Federation of B-H, pressures and attacks on the Muslims continue, in addition to setting fire to and looting of their property, claims Radio- Sarajevo. The Muslims cannot get job in any of public or state enterprises, particularly not in education, health, security, judiciary or information sector in this region, where the Constitution and Law of the B-H Federation are not being applied, concludes Radio-Sarajevo.

KAKANJ - Muslim authorities in Kakanj blocked the agreement on return of 14, 000 Croats, expelled from this city in 1993. The president of the Municipal Board of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Niko Lozancic, protested with international mediators for B-H Federation, report Croat media. The same source mentions the creation of the Croatian Municipality of Kraljeva Sutjeska with a complete local administration as a guarantee of survival of the remaining Croats and return of refugees to this region.

VLASENICA - Zoran Runic, member of the "Igman" chess club from Serb Sarajevo, is the winner of the RS senior chess premiership held in Vlasenica.
