NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The president from Republika Srpska (RS) in the Presidency of B&H, Momcilo Krajisnik, met with the RS president Biljana Plavsic in Banjaluka. He suggested her that decisions for overcoming the crisis are to be made and to recall the decision made on disbanding the RS Parliament. "I kindly asked the president to think about the problems, proposals and some other possibilities and I am ready to meet with her again. The door have to be open for all the negotiations and I am convinced, because this is what we all want, that some a proposal and hope will appear in the near future', stated Krajisnik after the meeting.

BANJALUKA - While being guest with the Serb TV, the first vice-president of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS), Aleksa Buha, pointed out that the constitutional crisis are normal thing, mentioning that an agreement was reached in principle with the RS president Biljana Plavsic on overcoming the crisis by accepting a decision to be made by the Constitutional Court. Buha expressed his hope that the talks with the president Biljana Plavsic will be continued with the considering of, as he said, 'the most favourable variant' i.e that the president withdraws her decision on disbanding the Parliament, while the Parliament is to cancel its initiative on recalling the president.

SARAJEVO - After the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) acknowledged that its symbol was used for shameful purposes during the arresting of the director of the hospital in Prijedor, Milan Kovacevic, the Red Cross of Republika Srpska (CKRS) thanked on a fair and objective investigation carried out. 'Such conducts are restoring our confidence in the ICRC, which was seriously shaken at the time of the latest occurrences. If this had not been done, the consequences would be unforeseeable', says a communique.

HAGUE - The Hague Tribunal sentenced a Serb Dusan Tadic to a 20 year prison term allegedly because of war crimes committed in the former Yugoslavia. An unnamed spokesman of the Hague Tribunal, stated that Tadic will not be returned to Germany to serve the sentence because 'an agreement was not reached with Germany on returning of the convict to those who delivered him'.

BANJALUKA - The president from RS in the Presidency of B&H, Momcilo Krajisnik expressed his dissatisfaction with the verdict made by the Hague Tribunal against a Serb Dusan Tadic, calling it 'a political'. 'This is a political verdict. We are very embittered because they did not give a lot of their attention to the trial to be conducted on a better political basis', stated Krajisnik in Banjaluka.

ZVORNIK - The OSCE, IPTF and other international organisations, situated at the Drina Hotel in Zvornik, continued exercising their regular activities even though a jeep of the OSCE's was destroyed in last night's explosion, stressed the IPTF chief of the Zvornik district, Charles Haze. According to the Zvornik Police Station's announcement made available to the Serbian Press Agency - SRNA, the OSCE's jeep exploded in front of the Drina Hotel in Zvornik. Some 2 kg of explosive were planted under the OSCE's vehicle. The investigation is in progress.

BELGRADE - The territory around Brcko will belong to the Serbs, assesses an American attorney, Nikola Kostic, a member of the team that defended the RS interests during the arbitration over Brcko that took place in Rome from January 6 to 16, 1997. 'After the elections, if the municipal administration is Serbian, I believe that there will be no problems for the municipality and city to be left to the Serbs', explained Kostic. In an interview for the paper 'Vecernje novine', the attorney pointed out that the town of Brcko can be put under the control of B&H only, but not under the Federation of B&H control.
