JUNE 10 1997 DAY

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The President of Republika Srpska Biljana Plavsic, accompanied by His Holiness Bishop of Banyaluka, Yefrem, and the assistant minister of religion, Yovo Turanyin, visited a Commemorative mausoleum at Drakulic, near Banyaluka. The corpses of about 2,300 innocent Serbs who were brutally killed by Ustashe on February, 1942, rest on this place. As Teodor Brkovic tells us, a child Dyurdya Glamocanin was killed first and afterwards Ushtashe eliminated 65 miners from a mining Rakovac as well as a great number of Serbs from the areas of Drakulic, Motika and Sargovac.

SARAJEVO - Last night, the president from Republika Srpska in the Presidency of B&H Momcilo Krajisnik talked in Pale with the deputy High Representative, Michael Steiner, and members of the Contact Group on a package of laws for an urgent return. Assessing the meeting as 'extremely difficult', Krajisnik clarified that 'some technical difficulties regarding a Central Bank Law and a Tariff Law emerged'. Steiner confirmed that a Donors' Conference on B&H will be held on June 24 and 25, as was stated at the Sintra Summit. He warned that the influx of aid will be 'dependent on the meeting of maximal requirements'.

SARAJEVO - The Sweden government is ready to cooperate with the Republika Srpska government on the resolving of the problem of refugees in RS as well as on their return from Sweden, stated the RS Commiserate for Refugees commissar, Dragan Kekic, in Pale. After the meeting with a delegation of the Sweden State Office for Immigrant Affairs, Kekic pointed out that both parties agreed on the necessity of finding a compromise during the return of refugees from abroad. This morning, the Sweden delegation visited a collective refugee centre in Lukavica and got acquainted with the state of affairs.

PODGORICA - 'The Posavina is the Serbian land from time immemorial. The Serbs have founded and affixed a seal to Brcko in which there is nothing but Serbian and Orthodox', stated the head of the Club of Representatives of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) in the RS Parliament, Vojislav Maksimovic, in an interview for the Podgorica paper 'Novine srpske'. 'The RS hoped for a positive and final decision to be made by the Arbitration Commission on Brcko, and not a partial resolution to the problem. An enormous uncertainty reigns on the matter, spreading justifiable anxiety', pointed out Maksimovic.

BERLIN - The Deputy High Representative Michael Steiner stated for a Berlin Infor radio that a certain progress has been made in Republika Srpska and the Federation of B&H, but not on the most important matters. He named the RS as a guilty party for the Dayton Agreement have not been yet implemented. He said that he regrets very much because the additional threats of drying up the financial aid won't do a lot, because out of the total aid RS received only 2%, while the FB&H was given 98%.

AMSTERDAM - It can not be even spoked about the return of Serbs to Croatia, conclude Dutch commentators, citing the Croatian President Franjo Tudjman who recently visited Vukovar. While entering the city, Tudjman announced that a Croatian authority will be established very soon in the region, state commentators and assess that a train by which he entered Vukovar symbolically leads him not only towards a new electoral victory, but also into history as a creator of an independent Croatian state without both autonomy for minorities and Serb provinces.
