NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

PRIJEDOR - The delegation of the Government of Republika Srpska /RS/, headed by the prime minister Gojko Klickovic, in the framework of the work visit to Prijedor, talked with the municipal leadership about the start-up of economic capacities and security-political situation in this part of RS. Mr. Klickovic stated after the meeting that the plan of autumn sowing is analysed, and regarding the start-up of economic capacities, they talked about the capacities of vital importance for this region, as the ore mine Ljubija and the Factory of cellulose and paper "Celpak", and as the prerequisite of start-up of the production he was asked about opening the border crossings.

SARAJEVO - In the National Museum in Sarajevo will be held the session of the Presidency of B&H. The members of the Presidency will, as expected, in Sarajevo talk also with the NATO Secretary General Xavier Solana.

SARAJEVO - The vice-president of RS for social affairs Velibor Ostojic talked in Pale with the chief of the mission of the international organisation DIA in B&H Vincent Turncier about the cooperation with this association on educational and cultural levels. Mr. Turncier acquainted Mr. Ostojic with the plans of this organisation, which recently had opened the centre in Banja Luka and in which domain is opening the courses of foreign languages, informatics, design, sculpture and so on, as well as organising the cultural performances and exhibitions.

SARAJEVO - In the municipalities of the Old Herzegovina and Serbian Gorazde for accommodation of refugees and displaced persons, in the first phase, will be delivered 30,000 peaces of brick-blocks, 50 tones of cement, 20,000 peaces of tile and 10 tones of structural iron. This was agreed at the meeting in Pale, between the vice-president of the RS Government Velibor Ostojic and minister for Refugees and displaced persons Ljubisa Vladusic with the representatives of the Municipal Assembly /SO/ of Serbian Gorazde.

DOBOJ - The structural and engineering section of the Nordic-Polish brigade of SFOR are engaged in the five projects for rehabilitation of buildings and infrastructure in the towns in Doboj region, financed by U.S. organisation for international development and reconstruction /USAID/. This was stated in Doboj by the spokesman of SFOR HQ Ian Gorshinski, precisely stating that the soldiers of this brigade are working on the rehabilitation of the Day Nursery in Teslic and other objects.

LAUSANNE - Goran Grabez, the Serbian from Prijedor, indicted for war crimes, was acquitted - this was officially stated by the president of the Military Court colonel Look Haphner. Mr. Grabez have spent two years in the prisons of the Investigation Court in Geneva and Lausanne, because of false charge (perjury) of the three Moslems, refugees from Prijedor, who allegedly recognised him as the torturer in detention camps Omarska and Keraterm.

SARAJEVO - The House for Human Rights of B&H have to reconsider on its July session the validity of the verdict against Sretko Damjanovic, sentenced to death by the Military Court in Sarajevo on March 12, 1993, because of, as stated in the verdict, being charged allegedly for genocide and war crimes against civilians. In the sources close to House of Human Rights is comfirmed that on the July session of the House would be organised the public hearing of participants in the process against Damjanovic on the request of his sister Ranka Djukic, who, on December 11, 1996 indicted Federation of B&H /FB&H/ for violation of human rights.

ZVORNIK - The continuation of the trial against seven Moslems from Srebrenica for killing four Serbian civilians from Milici, which was scheduled for April 18 before the Grand Jury of the Municipal Court in Zvornik, is delayed for Tuesday, April 22. The president of the Court Council the judge Petar Stjepanovic said to journalists that the reason for delay is because of technical reasons.

ZVORNIK - The president of the Grand Jury of the Municipal Court in Zvornik Petar Stjepanovic stated that he do not know the reasons for delay of the trial against seven Moslems from Srebrenica, but he supposes that the reason is the pressure of FB&H and the Office of High Representative /OHR/ for civilian affairs in B&H on the higher levels of the RS leadership.
