NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - Republika Srpska (RS) President Biljana Plavsic and High Representative for Dayton B&H Carl Bildt talked in Banjaluka about the implementation of the London conference conclusions. Bildt said that he is concerned with the difficult economic and social situation in Dayton B&H and that he talked with the RS president about "respecting of human rights, freedom of movement of civilians and media freedom in both entities".

SARAJEVO - The President in the Presidency of the Dayton B&H, Momcilo Krajisnik, and the president of the Republika Srpska (RS) National Assembly, Dragan Kalinic, received today in Pale US Ambassador to Sarajevo John Menzies, on the occasion of his farewell visit. During the meeting, they talked about the issues that are yet to be solved on the political scene in the Dayton B&H. "There is not a single US interest that might be endangered by RS, while we have common interests regarding peace keeping and stability in this area", pointed out Kalinic.

CLEVELAND - The UN Security Council unanimously adopted a Resolution on forming new international forces which are to replace the current IFOR and approved the forming of international civil police forces with mandate lasting by December 21, 1997.

SARAJEVO - The first year of peace in RS and the Federation of B&H brought with itself a big burden for the international community, which should engage all means for the purpose of reconstruction and finding solutions for displaced and impoverished local people, says a communique issued by UNHCR's Office in Pale. The communique also says that UNHCR needs a total of $235,864,950 in order to help the former Yugoslavian states in 1997.

BANJALUKA - The head of the RS People's Party , Radoslav Brdjanin, expressed his trust in Bora Bosic, the RS representative in the Council of Ministers, who was appointed for cochairman of the Council. However, he regrets that chairman of the Council of Ministers is not the only one and from RS at the same time, as it should have been.

SYDNEY - The media of the national communities in Diaspora from the former Yugoslavia, are keeping an eye on the events in Belgrade, hoping to fights among Serbs. Croatian commentator on the national programme, who hopes to disorder, discord and fights in Serbia, claims that "half of the demonstrators are Milosevic's secret policemen".

NOVI SAD - The president of the Yugoslavian Government Commission on missing persons, Pavle Todorovic, stated for the paper "Nedeljni Dnevnik", that at one of the last meetings between Croatian and Yugoslavian commissions, Croats offered a list of still alive people from the Krajina who were not listed as missing by Yugoslavia. As Todorovic said, the Yugoslavian side requires to start with the exhumation of Serb mass graves in Western Slavonia, especially in Pakracka Poljana.

VUKOVAR - The Provisional International Administration in the Srem-Baranja district will along with dinars, DEM and US$ put the Croatian currency - krona in the regular system of payment by the end of 1996, announced the deputy administrator, Derek Budby.
