NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - Republika Srpska (RS) member in the Presidency of the Dayton B&H Momcilo Krajisnik, stated today for SRNA that "a compromise is reached and the minimum of the interests of all the three parties is satisfied", by organising a Council of Ministers. Pointing out that "he isn't enthusiastic", but in any case, "is satisfied with the organisation of the Council", Krajisnik assessed that this way the accusations, saying that the joint bodies cannot be organised, are denied.

BANJALUKA - The RS government annulled its decision on appointing Vitomir Popovic as arbitrator with the Arbitration Tribunal for a dispute over the inter-entity border line in the Brcko area, and it isn't intending to participate any further in the proceeding. RS premier Gojko Klickovic, wrote to the presiding arbitrator, Robert B. Owen, informing him about the decision.

BIJELJINA - By reorganising the Army of Republika Srpska, we have made more stronger and more compact units capable for performing all of combat tasks, stated the VRS 3rd Corps commander, brigadier-general Novica Simic, for the Semberske Novine. "The peacetime core of the Army is capable of immediately defending us from a possible aggressor and, as such represents a basis for the development of new units", he specified.

SARAJEVO - All the parties in the Dayton B&H agreed to for the local elections to take place in 1997, announced the OSCE in Sarajevo, being in charge of supervising the future elections.

LISBON - The maintenance of peace and stability in Europe will be dealt with by the OSCE leaders at the Lisbon summit which is going to take place on Monday and Tuesday. The implementation of the Dayton agreement, the past elections in RS and the Federation of B&H as well as the control of arms and supervision of human rights and democratic freedoms in the area will be on the agenda of the summit.

PARIS - Fragile peace in the Dayton B&H initiated the international community to hold a conference in London on the 4th and 5th of December, in order to accelerate the reconstruction and the return of refugees. All representatives of the states engaged in the Dayton B&H will gather at a ministerial level in London, so to adopt precise plans of actions for applying the civil aspects of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

BANJALUKA - The Serbian Patriotic Party (SPAS) of RS is supporting the organisation of the Council of Ministers at a level of the Dayton B&H, but believes that all of the Serb civilians and soldiers imprisoned in the prisons of the Federation of B&H should be released before the Council starts working. The Party's head, Slavko Zupljanin, stated that "the Council of Ministers is just one of the anticipated steps in the Dayton B&H.
