  • [01] MOSCOW RESPONDS TO CRITICISM BY ONE PART OF SERBIAN OPPOSITION

The views on the events in Yugoslavia, which these last days on two occasions were stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Yevgeny Primakov, are reflecting the official stand of Moscow, stated yesterday the official spokesman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Genady Tarasov. He stated this in view of the criticism expressed by one of the leaders of the coalition "Zajedno" Vuk Draskovic on Russian Television, regarding the stands of Minister Primakov, spoken in Lisbon and in London concerning the events taking place in Belgrade. In the information program of the Moscow TV channel NTV, Draskovic while accusing the authorities in Serbia, also stated that Primakov "has offended the democratic Serbia", and expressed hope that "this is not the support of democratic Russia". This is no private opinion of Minister Primakov, but an official stand of Russia, underlined Tarasov at the press conference. "We hope that no one reasonable will attempt to dispute this, especially not a citizen of some other country", added Tarasov.

    [02] HITLER'S PENSIONS FOR 3000 SLOVENIANS

Hitler's pensions are still being received by 3,000 Slovenians who as the members of the ill-famed SS troops and Vermaht, were fighting during World War Two in the Nazi units, claims the Alliance of Slovenians mobilized in the German Fascist army. Precise data of this have been concealed for years, and it is now estimated that the number of pensioners of the Hitler Germany in Slovenia exceeds the official data of the Alliance. There are no complete data even in the Slovenian Institute for Pension Insurance, because such pensions most often are being collected either personally or with the help of friends and relatives in Germany. According to the documentation which is more and more coming into the public focus, Slovenia is the second state in the world, after the United States, according to the number of Hitler's pensioners. Ljubljana press in 1989 on several occasions published names of renown Slovenians who were members of the elite Nazi units. Among them is also the former high official of the former Yugoslavia and a person of confidence of the-then Slovenian republican leadership - Stane Dolanc.

    [03] ZAGREB UNDERMINES EVERYTHING

During last year into the area of former Yugoslavia a much smaller number of refugees has returned than expected, stated in Geneva the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State John Cornblum at the international conference of the Work Group for Humanitarian Affairs of the Council for Peace Implementation. He especially underlined the problem of Serbian refugees from Croatia, saying that the Croat authorities have allowed only a small number of refugees to return to their homes. "Croat authorities are also very slow", said Cornblum, "in issuing permits to those refugees who are willing to return. Croats are continuing to harass Serbs who have remained in Krajina, authorities are not protecting victims of such behavior and are in this way practically sending messages to Serbs in Eastern Slavonia and those who are in exile and wish to return." Cornblum also stated the following: "Zagreb must stop such behavior, because the international community will consider the Croat authorities responsible for everything that they have failed to do".

[04] SECRET MUSLIM PLAN FOR SETTLING IN THE SEPARATION ZONES

Representatives of the Municipality of Zvornik had talks with the representatives of the International Commission for Settling of the Separation Zones and informed them of the real background of the problem of forcible settling of Muslims in some villages of this municipality. Presented were also true documents from which it is obvious what are the true wishes and intentions of the Muslims: by seizure of Jusici and Dugi Dio to cut off the Republic of Srpska and gain access to the place of Kozluk which is situated immediately close to the Drina River. "From the secret Muslim documents it is seen", stated the representative of the Serbian side Nikola Vukovic, "that cutting off of the Republic of Srpska into two parts should have been done by the use of civilians and disguised military persons until the end of next year, and all this with the help of the UNHCR and the other international organizations". "Both the Muslim and international representatives remained speechless when they were faced with this undeniable proof of militarily planned settling of the parts of the Municipality of Zvornik, which is in complete controversy with the Dayton Accords", said Vukovic.

[05] DITUOUR CONDEMNS THE ANTI-SERBIAN CAMPAIGN

It is a virtue to support Serbs, reads the message of the speech pronounced recently by the French author and academician Jean Ditour, whose extensive excerpts are quoted yesterday in "Le Figaro". At the annual session of the French Academy, Ditour held an inspired speech about the virtue and thus, among others, covered the question of the world campaign against Serbs, conducted after the eruption of the war in Bosnia. Standing in the defence of Serbs, for whom he says that all the sins and accusations for the greatest crimes have been placed on their shoulders, Ditour goes back into history in order to show the sufferings of the Serbian people in general, not only in Bosnia, and in order to underline its virtues. "The philosophers, intellectuals, professional humanitarian workers, governments, the United Nations, The Hague Tribunal and the entire world had suppressed Serbs", says Ditour, asking himself whether justice and virtue are really blind. "Serbs are our brothers in arms", says the academician, adding that "the virtue must be" - to continue the old alliance and "to embrace Serbian interests". Ditour forcibly strived for the French to return to this virtue.

[06] LILIC: THE AGREEMENT OF ALL PARTIES NECESSARY IN THE INTEREST OF CITIZENS

President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Zoran Lilic during his yesterday's visit to the Telecommunications PTT Center of Serbia, while speaking of the actual political situation in the country after the second round of the local elections, among others, stated the following: "I am convinced that all those who wish well to Serbia and Montenegro are looking for the solution exclusively in the joint state. There is an enormous responsibility both of the position and of the opposition in view of the awakened hopes of separatists and some foreign factors that, on the discord most of all of Serbs, they will finally succeed in achieving some targets and de-stabilize Serbia bringing about its possible disintegration." All the pressures and threats to come into power through unlawful means, are not an honorable thing for any one thinking in such a way to break-down Serbia, said Lilic. On the other hand, he continued, the position and the party in power must accept, wherever there were determined irregularities of its members, the justified demands of the opposition and initiate the question of responsibility of their members. Underlining that this is not questionable, because what Serbia needs today above all are peace, stability and not provocations and possible conflicts, Lilic added: "What is needed is the agreement of all the parties in the interest of citizens who have not given a mandate to anyone to de-stabilize the country".

[07] MILOSEVIC: THE TRUTH - IN THE INTEREST OF ALL CITIZENS OF SERBIA

Delegation of students of the University of Nis, requested yesterday an audience with the President of the Republic Slobodan Milosevic. Three members of the delegation, who underlined that they are not members of any party, handed over to the President the letter of the students' protest board of the University of Nis. During the talks with students, President Milosevic stated that there is no fear that the truth will remain concealed. "On the contrary, I think that for all the state bodies the highest value in the functioning of a state is the need to respect Constitution and uphold laws and for those state bodies to function in accordance with the Constitution and law". "I wish to tell you", continued President, "that everything that will be done in every task, not only this one which is very important, and concerns the elections, I think is in the interest of all the citizens of Serbia to be resolved in the institutions of our Republic". "We are our own masters in Serbia and we must resolve our problems within our own institutions. This, of course, does not mean that we do not wish cooperation with the other countries. We think that our country can be a good partner, but that it should not be anybody's servant, and neither should it bow its head." President of the Republic submitted to the Government of the Republic of Serbia documentation which was handed over to him by the delegation of the students from Nis and requested the Government that the Ministry of Justice examines thoroughly the entire submitted documentation and presents to this effect a detailed report, with the obligation for this report to be entirely made public.

[08] THEY PLAYED FOOTBALL WITH A SEVERED HEAD

Investigating judges of The Hague Tribunal are to complete today hearing of witnesses of the crimes which the members of the Croat Army and police have committed against Serbs during the aggression on Krajina last year, when more than 2,000 Serbs were killed or are missing. Hearing of the witnesses in Belgrade is taking place in cooperation with the offices of The Hague Tribunal and the Documentation Center of Krajina "Veritas". Among the monstrous crimes committed against Serbs is also the case from Pakostan where Tudjman's soldiers were playing football with the severed head of Djuro Cupic from Jagodnja Gornja. There are such and similar testimonies of the Croat crimes against Serbs committed during the aggression on Krajina, from Miljevac in 1992 until "The Storm" in 1995, and over 150 cases in the documentation of the "Veritas". Most of these files have been taken over by The Hague Tribunal.
