[01] THE LEFT IS IN THE LEADThe unique list SPS-JUL-ND - Slobodan Milosevic (Socialist Party of Serbia - Yugoslav United Left - New Democracy - Slobodan Milosevic) in 18 electoral units in Serbia, according to the temporary results, has won 33 deputy seats for the Chamber of Citizens of the Assembly (Parliament) of Yugoslavia. This was announced at the session of the Federal Electoral Commission. Coalition "Zajedno" ("Together") has won 17 seats, Serbian Radical Party 11 seats, Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians 3 seats and Coalition "Vojvodina" 2 deputy seats. In three electoral units in Montenegro, according to unofficial results, Democratic Party of Socialists has won seven, and the People's Party four seats in the Chamber of Citizens. (TANJUG, November 6, 1996)[02] CONGRATULATIONS BY PRESIDENT LILICPresident of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Zoran Lilic, has congratulated Bill Clinton on his re-election for President of the United States of America. In the congratulation message, the belief is expressed that "this will also be a continuation of your politics of successful cooperation achieved by our two countries in the implementation of the peace process, as well as in strengthening of traditionally friendly relations between the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the United States of America".President of the FR of Yugoslavia Zoran Lilic has sent congratulations to Petar Stojanov, stating on the occasion of his election for the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, that he is using this opportunity to express the belief that the relations and the cooperation between the two countries will comprehensively continue to develop to the benefit of our peoples and in the interest of peace, stability and good neighborly relations in the region. President Zoran Lilic also sent a message to the President of the Russian Federation Boris Yeltzin wishing him "fast recovery and a successful return soon to the responsible duties of a statesman". (TANJUG, November 6, 1996) [03] TANJUG IS CONTRIBUTING TO THE AFFIRMATION OF YUGOSLAVIA IN THE WORLDPresident of Serbia Slobodan Milosevic, while congratulating the TANJUG News Agency on the anniversary of its establishment, expressed the belief that this news agency "is capable of keeping the pace with the major world information systems, because it has good and rich experience". Milosevic, in his talk with the editors of the agency, underlined that TANJUG journalists are making a very important link in the chain of the Yugoslav information system and that this house is publishing all the relevant information, for which it has won good reputation both in the country and in the world. TANJUG is the news agency which is not publishing news which may prove to be false, which is very important for the credibility of the journalistic profession, President Milosevic pointed out. (TANJUG, November 6, 1996)[04] READY TO IMPORT FOOD FROM SERBIAPrime Minister of Serbia Mirko Marjanovic received yesterday economic delegation from Moscow, headed by Nikolay Jakovljevich Djomin, director general of the firm "Eksima", which is one of the largest suppliers of the Russian capital with food stuffs.During its visit to our country, the Russian delegation will contract with the Yugoslav businessmen the import of food products, most of all meat, milk, oil, canned fruit and vegetable, in the value of some 84 million US dollars. (Politika, November 6, 1996) [05] KERTES IN MOSCOWDirector of the Federal Customs Administration, Mihalj Kertes, had talks in Moscow with the representatives of the Russian Federation and our businessmen in this country, about conditions for cooperation in the field of application of the foreign trade, customs and foreign exchange regulations.It was concluded that further efforts should be made in the solution of problems which have appeared in these fields during the time of sanctions. It was also stated that in this phase, it is necessary to engage the competent Yugoslav federal authorities and their better coordination with the corresponding authorities in Russia. (TANJUG, November 6, 1996) [06] STRONGER GOODS EXCHANGE IN THE BALKANSPresident of the Chamber of Economy of Yugoslavia Dr. Mihailo Milojevic underlined during his meeting with the President of the Bulgarian Industrial and Trade Chamber Bozidar Bozinov in Sofia, that for the Yugoslav economy, exports are the first priority.Milojevic and Bozinov have especially discussed economic cooperation between the Balkans countries, within the regional association of the chambers of economy and concluded that the market with over 120 million inhabitants is an important one and that goods exchange between the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Romania, Macedonia, Cyprus and Albania can and should be intensified. (Politika, november 6, 1996) [07] TIME OF ENCOURAGEMENTZagreb, Ljubljana and Entire Italy Metropolitan Jovan, the man number two of the Serbian Orthodox Church, returned to Zagreb yesterday, from which he was absent (except for several visits) throughout the time of war. On the first day of his stay in the capital of Croatia, he was received by the President Franjo Tudjman, Cardinal Franjo Kuharic and the charge d'affaires of the Yugoslav Embassy Veljko Knezevic.In the communique of the offices of the Croat President, it is stated that talks were conducted on the need to regulate relations between the Croat state and the Serbian Orthodox Church, which, it was said, was in the best interest of both peoples. The return of Metropolitan Jovan is closely related to the normalization of the relations between Croatia and Yugoslavia. During the time of war, some 140 Orthodox priests went into exile, and only a dozen of them remained in Croatia. The return of Metropolitan Jovan is an encouragement for all those who wish to return to their homes or are still hesitating - whether to remain in Croatia or not. Judging by the attacks with which Zagreb newspaper "Vjesnik" yesterday flooded Metropolitan Jovan, calling him "the hawk of the Serbian Orthodox Church", the extremists in Croatia are not happy with the return of the Serbian church dignitaries, because it is a sign that the return will also begin of the exiled Serbs. (Vecernje novosti, November 6, 1996) [08] CROATIA RISKS TO LOSE THE SUPPORT OF THE UNITED STATESDeputy U.S. Secretary of State for Human Rights, John Shestak, stated on Tuesday in Zagreb that Croatia is risking to lose the political and economic support of the United States, if it should fail to deliver the persons indicted for war crimes to the Tribunal in The Hague. Shestak voiced this warning on the occasion of his one-day visit to Zagreb, after the talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mate Granic. He also said that the relations between the United States and Croatia depend on the degree of respect for human rights and freedom of press in Croatia. (Politika ekspres, November 6, 1996)[09] CROAT TICKET TO STRASBOURGCroatia is ceremoniously entering today the Council of Europe, but there is not one single sign that this state, before its entrance into the temple of western democracy, will renounce on its pro-Fascist attire and behavior. Furthermore, many arguments are speaking in favor of the view that Croatia is arriving in Strasbourg with the aid of the ticket of clero-chauvinism at least half a century old! This was published in its yesterday's edition by the Rijeka newspaper "Novi list".The newspaper is also stating that Croatia is based on the syndrome of extreme nationalism and that it is striving to build on this extremism its position in the international community, which in part it is succeeding in doing in the sleepy Europe. This success, however, is basically the consequence of the American global strategy in which the colonial status of Zagreb represents a foothold for the step of the United States onto the Black Sea shores. (Vecernje novosti, November 6, 1996) [10] RELEASE ALL PRISONER OF WARMember of the tripartite Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Momcilo Krajisnik, has sent a letter to the high international envoy for Bosnia-Herzegovina, Michael Stainer, to the President of the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina Alija Izetbegovic and to the member of this Presidency Kresimir Zubak, in which he is requesting that from all the Federation prisons urgently all the citizens of the Republic of Srpska be released, arrested after the signing of the Dayton Accords. Krajisnik in his letter is recalling that, according to the provisions of the Dayton Accords, both entities were obliged to release and set free all prisoners of war by January 19, 1996 at the latest. (TANJUG, November 6, 1996)[11] IMPOSSIBLE TOGETHERIslamic fundamentalism has gained such strength in the minds of the Bosnian Muslims, that every formula of a multi-ethnic Bosnia is doomed to failure in advance - stated yesterday Srecko Vucina, vice president of the HDZ (Croat Democratic Community) in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and stated for the Croat Radio dozens of the most recent examples of violence over Croats by the Muslims.
