[01] AFRICAN CONTRACTS WORTH ABOUT 150 MILLION DOLLARS
Yugoslav President Zoran Lilic stated upon returning yesterday from his
African tour which included visits to Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Ghana and Guinea, that
"Africa has clearly shown that it is a good and sincere friend for Yugoslavia".
President Lilic also remarked that his trip to Africa "marked the path for the
return of FR Yugoslavia to the international economic and political scene". "In
all the countries that we have visited", he said "we have witnessed full support
for the policy pursued by our country in the past several years, that we all
hope will never be repeated." The importance of the African tour is confirmed by
a series of agreements, contracts, protocols and letters of intention, that were
signed with our hosts either by the government or by individual companies. Mr.
Lilic remarked that the fact that the Yugoslav delegation included a large group
of businessmen is also important, because their presence led to the signing of
numerous contracts currently worth about 150 million dollars.

[02] THE FEDERAL FOREIGN MINISTER IN VIENNA
Yugoslav Foreign Minister Milan Milutinovic stated upon arriving in Vienna
yesterday evening, that FRY wants to bring its relations with Austria back to
the level they were on several years ago. "Previously we had excellent relations
and very good economic ties. Austria was the fifth largest Yugoslav foreign
trade partner", said Mr. Milutinovic and added "If we were to establish
relations as they were, we would be quite pleased, since this would mean more
than normalizing them." The head of Yugoslav diplomacy will meet today with
Austrian vice-chancellor and Foreign Minister Wolfgang Shissel and with
Chancellor Franz Vranicky. The main issues of their talks will be the
enhancement of bilateral relations and the current situation in the region.

[03] STABLE ECONOMIC RELATIONS BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES
The three day talks between French and Yugoslav businessmen - organized by
the Yugoslav Chamber of Economy and the French Industrials Association - has
been concluded yesterday in Paris. Both sides agreed that stable economic
relations between the two countries have been established . Along with concrete
agreements on cooperation signed in the past several days by businessmen (worth
several dozen million dollars), the schedule for future encounters has been
defined. "During the talks, French businessmen have realized that there are no
formal obstacles nor any other kind of impediments for the cooperation with
FRY", said Mr. Mihajlo Milivojevic - Chairman of the Yugoslav Chamber of
Economy. "Our hosts have also seen that all our regulations have been adapted to
EU demands and that we are ready to face the European market in this sense.

[04] COOPERATION BETWEEN VOJVODINA AND THE BORDERING ZONES IN ROMANIA AND HUNGARY
The abolition of international sanctions has created the conditions for
renewing and improving the cooperation between the Province of Vojvodina and the
Hungarian and Romanian counties along the border. Consequently, contacts between
companies have been intensified lately. For example, in the Romanian town of
Arad, a trilateral meeting has been organized involving the delegation of
Vojvodina (headed by the Chairman of the Provincial Executive Council Bosko
Perosevic), The Hungarian County of Tchongrad and Romanian Counties of Arad and
Temis. It has been agreed to enhance the cooperation through joint projects for
the development of these territories in the border zone of the three countries,
which are particularly alleviated by the fact that the economy of all three
countries in a transition phase. In order to expand the cooperation with the
neighbors, the Vojvodina Executive Council launched the initiative to open new
border crossings in Vojvodina which will create the preconditions for an even
complex economic cooperation. One of the results of the talks is the exhibition
of the companies from the Hungarian Tchongrad County, opening today in the
Vojvodina capital of Novi Sad. Hungarian firms will present electronics,
ready-mades, car parts and numerous other products. Besides presenting their
product range, Hungarians will offer new forms of cooperation with companies
from Vojvodina.

[05] JOINT STATEMENT - BASIS FOR THE CREATION OF DAYTON B&H
The three members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina initiated the
functioning of the Presidency and other joint bodies, completing a difficult but
successful task - said yesterday in Sarajevo the US Deputy State Secretary for
Europe - Mr. John Cornbloom - one of the promoters of the Bosnian Presidency
meeting staged two days ago. Mr. Karl Bildt - international community High
Representative for B&H, remarked that the session yielded results because the
members of the Presidency promised to form the future Cabinet of the Union of
Bosnia and Herzegovina by October 30th. International mediators in B&H are
openly showing satisfaction due to the results of the Presidency session because
the joint statement signed by its three members laid the foundation for the
creation of Dayton Bosnia and Herzegovina. Their optimism is particularly
prompted by the fact that the work of joint institutions has been stressed in
the documents, as well as the principles of equality between the Federation of
Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Srpska and between the three
constituent nations.

[06] THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR RS IS TO HONOR THE DAYTON AGREEMENT
Ms. Biljana Plavsic - President of the Republic of Srpska (RS) stated
yesterday in Banjaluka that the most important objective for RS is to abide by
the Dayton Agreement, with envisages equal treatment of all sides. After meeting
with the Russian Federation Deputy Foreign Minister Nikolai Afanasyevsky, she
said that they discussed the peaceful solution of difficult problems, an
approach particularly hailed by the Russian high official. Mr. Afanasyevsky
stressed that RS has clearly shown its determination to peacefully settle
certain issues.

[07] USTASHAS AND PARTISANS IN A COMMON GRAVE
What Croatian President Tudjman planned to do in Jasenovac, causing heated
reaction of progressive forces all around the world, will probably be realized
in the town of Omis. The remains of 112 Croatian Ustashas and Domobrans and
their victims from the Resistance (killed during World War II in the zone of
Omis) will be laid in a common grave at the municipal cemetery - states the
"Slobodna Dalmacija" daily from Split. This is the first case of WW II enemies
being buried together in Croatia.
