[01] THIS YEAR SERBIAN EXPORTS TO EXCEED 2 BILLION DOLLARS
Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Marjanovic visited yesterday the "Toza
Markovic" construction material industry from Kikinda, on the occasion of the
130th anniversary of the company. He also officially opened the new company
plant and laid the corner-stone for a new workers settlement. The ceremony also
marked the beginning of a new investment cycle, and this year alone 38 million
marks will be spent. "Your company and city are the best proof of the vitality
of the economy and the strength of the Serbian people, confirmed in the
difficult years that - I am sure - are definitely behind us" - said Prime
Minister Marjanovic. "Today we can say with certainty that 1996 will be more
successful than the previous two years. We will have greater production and
exports and a more intense growth of domestic product. The increase of prices
this year will be significantly smaller than last year. The dinar exchange rate
has been maintained stability for over ten months and we will maintain it",
anticipated the Serbian Premier. According to Mr. Marjanovic, this year has
shown that exports are the key factor for accelerating the economic activities
and achieving major employment rates and use of production potentials.
"According to estimates, this year, Serbia will export goods and services worth
more than two billion dollars, which represents a significant increase compared
to last year. This result will be achieved thanks to major involvement of the
businessmen and government. In order to realize this goal, the Serbian
government has been directly involved in trade negotiations with foreign
partners, especially regarding the crude oil and natural gas imports from China
and Russia", said Mr. Marjanovic.

[02] COMPREHENSIVE TALKS MILUTINOVIC - PRIMAKOV
During his official visit to the Russian Federation - Federal Foreign
Minister Milan Milutinovic, had talks with the head of Russian diplomacy -
Yevgeny Primakov and other high officials. The two foreign ministers talked
about the forthcoming election in Bosnia and Herzegovina and further
implementation of the Dayton Agreement, so that all problems in this former
Yugoslav republic might be settled. The two diplomats dedicated particular
attention to economic issues, since they are to assume increasing importance in
the forthcoming period. After the talks, Minister Milutinovic reiterated that on
the political level Yugoslavia and Russia have no problems, and both sides are
preparing to intensify contacts concerning economic cooperation. Both sides
agreed that FRY is giving a major contribution to the strengthening of peace in
the Balkans and in Europe. "In the talks we agreed that in view of the fact that
Yugoslavia is a factor of peace and stability, identical criteria should be
applied regarding its full membership in European and international
institutions. We have underscored our expectations that FR Yugoslavia will soon
assume its rightful seat in these organizations." - stressed Mr. Milutinovic.

[03] SIRADOVIC: WE EXPECT THE SANCTIONS TO BE ABOLISHED
The Federal Minister of Trade - Mr. Djordje Siradovic - stated that
Yugoslavia expects that the UN Security Sanctions, suspended last November will
be definitively abolished on September 24. "Yugoslavia believes that on this
date, the economic embargo will be definitively removed, because it has done
everything in its power to help the realization of the Dayton and Paris
documents", said Mr. Siradovic. "This is why we are convinced that the sanctions
are to be abolished ten days after the elections in Bosnia, as the Dayton
Agreement specifies", he added. Asked to comment the practical effects of the
removal of sanctions, Mr. Siradovic said that this primarily means that Yugoslav
trade with foreign partners will be normalized. "More specifically, we believe
that trade preferentials will be reinstated for our exports, that our assets in
foreign banks will (finally) be freed, and that the negotiations with the World
Trade Organization concerning our membership will be continued." clarified Mr.
Siradovic. He also specified that the trade preferentials for Yugoslav exports -
abolished in autumn 1991 - will be reintroduced by the member-countries of the
Organization for Economic Cooperation. We particularly expect the European Union
to expand the so-called positive trade measure to FR Yugoslavia, i.e. to grant
FRY the same treatment and alleviations that other former Yugoslav republics
already enjoy, added the Yugoslav Minister of Trade.

[04] THE ELECTIONS ARE THE PATH TO DEMOCRACY AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF
SRPSKA
Speaking at the "TANJUG's Guest" open panel - Prof. Dr. Branislav
Ivkovic - Chairman of the Belgrade Municipal Board of the Socialist Party of
Serbia - stated that he is deeply convinced that the people of the Republic of
Srpska will vote for candidates that are advocating development and the creation
of the conditions for a complete parliamentary democracy. "I expect a change in
the balance of political powers in RS, and the creation of equitable relations
between certain political factors, which will inevitably lead to an improvement
of quality in all spheres of life", Mr. Ivkovic said. He reminded that the RS
economy has survived, primarily due to its collaboration with the Serbian and
Yugoslav economy. The people of RS are well aware of that and will certainly
bear all that in mind when they go to vote - remarked Prof. Ivkovic.

[05] INDICTMENT RAISED AGAINST ALIJA IZETBEGOVIC
Yesterday, the Public Attorney's Office in Banjaluka raised the
indictment against Bosnian Moslem Leader and Chairman of the Democratic Action
Party - Alija Izetbegovic for his role in the crimes of war and murders
committed against civilians, wounded and captured soldiers. Between May 1 1992
and December 14 1995, as the Supreme Commander of the Moslem armed forces,
Izetbegovic ordered and incited his armed forces to systematically persecute and
kill Serbs - the indictment says. Izetbegovic is also charged of founding prison
camps for Serbs and for ordering the shelling of cities where Serbs lived -
especially Doboj, Brcko, Serbian Sarajevo, Lopar, Ugljevik, Modrica and Teslic.

[06] 46 NEW BODIES DISCOVERED IN THE MASS GRAVE NEAR GLAMOC
The exhumation of the murdered Serbian soldiers and civilians buried in
the mass grave in the village of Kamen near Glamoc, has been completed yesterday
when the last 46 bodies found have been transferred to Banjaluka for
identification. The exhumation of the mass grave containing the remains of 108
Serbs killed last autumn during the Moslem-Croatian, started on July 16th, but
was interrupted on several occasions due to the refusal of the Herzeg-Bosnia
state committee to issue the permit for the continuation of the investigation.
This is the first of the four dozen mass graves in Moslem-Croatian Federation
territory to be investigated.

[07] SERBIAN OBJECTIONS TO THE UN ADMINISTRATOR
The Executive Council of the Serbian Region of Eastern Slavonija,
Baranja and Western Srem held a session in the presence of the UN Administrator
Jacques Cline. It has been remarked that the fact that none of the essential
demands made by the Serbian side have been fulfilled, especially those
concerning amnesty, the rights of the refugees and the future settlement of the
status of local bodies - caused a blockade in the implementation of the Erdut
agreement." UN Administrator Cline remarked that he agrees that all articles of
the agreement are best implemented simultaneously as well as the vital and
political issues linked to the UNTAES mission. UNTAES legal experts are working
on the improved version of the law on amnesty, since the existing version "does
not meet the needs of the Mission", Mr. Cline added. Commenting the elections in
the region, due to take place at the end of the UNTAES mandate, the UN
Administrator: "I assure you that the elections in the region, will be promoted
by the international community and not by the Croats."

[08] JUSTICE FOR THE SERBIAN PEOPLE
The orchestrated satanization of the Serbian people in the civil war in
Bosnia, the media manipulation of facts and truth, the promotion of the
Moslem-Croatian side, and the unprecedented attacks on a nation and the
suppression of its history - prompted the reaction of individuals at first - and
then large groups of free thinking men. The French writers were the first to
raise a protest against such satanization of the Serbs. Recently, a group of 18
French writers and journalists visited the Republic of Srpska. At a press
conference held yesterday evening in Belgrade, Patrique Besson, Tiery Sechant,
Frederique Detour, Yves Batay, Morris Livernto, Alain Bocard, Marie Matey,
Morris Perniet, and Daniel Schiffer illustrated their impressions from the
Republic of Srpska. "I wanted to meet the Serbian people at a decisive moment of
its history, because this is a nation that has been punished more than any other
and faced a most dramatic historical challenge. Lamentably, the war in Bosnia
was interpreted by journalists, which means that the real truth was hidden from
the world. I hope that this voyage will inspire books, articles and stories that
will strengthen the ties of friendship and understanding." - said Mr. Besson.
The feeling of solidarity, friendship and understanding of the French
intellectuals for the Serbian people has been nicely synthesized by one of them
- Frederique Ditour: "At all times, France was a friend and sister for Serbia.
We bring you hope and assure you that people like us are becoming more numerous
in Europe, and we insist that justice be granted to the Republic of Srpska -
made to suffer so much by history."
