[01] THE PROTECTION OF ALL CITIZENS IN BOSNIA
Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic met yesterday with US
Ass. Secretary of State Robert Gelbard and his associates.
The talks concerned the implementation of the of the peace
agreement on Bosnia. Amongst other things, special police
forces are to be formed to help protect the rights and the
interests of the citizens - both in the Republic of Srpska
and in the Moslem- Croatian Federation - especially in the
Sarajevo zone. (Politika, January 24, 1996)
[02] TIES WITH THE MOTHER COUNTRY
Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic, received yesterday a
group of prominent political and public figures from the
Republic of Srpska, including the leading representatives of
the Socialist Party of the Republic of Srpska and of the
United Left. They informed Mr. Milosevic about the current
political, social and other aspects of the current situation
in the Republic of Srpska.(Politika Ekspres, January 24,

[03] ASPEN INSTITUTE DELEGATION VISITED YUL
The direction of the Yugoslav United Left (JUL) was visited
yesterday by the delegation of the Aspen Institute
International Commission for the Balkans - headed by former
Belgian Premier - Mr. Leo Tindemans. The delegation Institute
seated in Berlin has been received by JUL president - Dr.
Mira Markovic. The talks concerned the future development of
the Balkans and the prospective links between Balkan
countries in economy, culture and science/technology. Dr.
Markovic stressed that the prosperity on the Balkan region
requires progressive, educated and humane personalities.

[04] ITALIAN DELEGATION VISITED THE SERBIAN GOVERNMENT
Mr. Svetozar Krstic - Deputy Premier of Serbia and Mr. Dragan
Tomic - Coordinating Minister received yesterday the state
and business delegation from Italy headed by Plenipotentiary
Minister and Ass. General Director for Economic Relations of
the Italian Foreign Ministry - Mr. Mario Piereigili. Both
sides agreed that economic relations between the two
countries should be renewed and the previous level of trade
and traditional cooperation reinstated. (Politika, January

[05] SLOVENIA STARTED THE ETHNIC CLEANSING
Italian Senator - Ms. Marucci Vascon publicly accused
Slovenia of having started first the ethnic cleansing former
Yugoslavia. At the beginning of January, Sen. Vascon warned
UN Secretary General Ghali that ethnic cleansing in
Yugoslavia was not initiated by Serbia but by Slovenia -
Stated at a press conference held yesterday in Kopar (Capo
d'Istria) Slovenian Parliament member - Ms. Jadranka
Strum-Kocjan. Ms. Vascon made her remark bearing in mind the
Italians that were expelled from Istria after World War II,
and said that the Italian Parliament will demand that the
Italians from Istria be granted by the international
community the same status as the expatriate persons from
Bosnia and Herzegovina. (Politika, January 24, 1996)
[06] THE RETURN OF THE SERBS TO KRAJINA IS IMPOSSIBLE
Mr. Soren Jensen Petersen - UNHCR Special Envoy for former
Yugoslavia talked with the representatives of the
Srem-Baranja Region about the problems faced by the refugees
and the possibility of their return. He remarked that "it is
now perfectly clear that no conditions exist for the return
of the Serbs to Krajina, but they must be created and the
authorities bear the responsibility for allowing these people
to return to their homes safely and with dignity." Mr.
Petersen underscored that the Dayton Agreement commits all
countries in the region to create the safe and dignified
return of the refugees. (Borba, January 24, 1996)
[07] INVESTIGATION AGAINST 1.888 CROATS
Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic stated yesterday in
Strasbourg that investigation has been initiated against
1.888 Croats due to destruction and killings committed in
Krajina during the "Storm" operation. Mr. Granic specified
that the investigation involves 21 murders and 1.500 other
crimes. (Politika, January 24, 1996)
[08] TALKS ABOUT THE REPATRIATION OF THE REFUGEES TO BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
Serbian Commissioner for Refugees - Ms. Bratislava Morina met
yesterday with Mr. Yuriy Myahotnik - Delegate of the UN
Secretary General for former Yugoslavia. The future projects
for the repatriation of refugees to Bosnia and Herzegovina
have been discussed, as well as the current status of some
200.000 Serbs expelled from the Republic of Serbian Krajina
that found shelter in Serbia. (Borba, January 24, 1996)
[09] WORTHY OF HIS NAME
Mr. John Right - Chairman of the European part of the
Intercontinental hotel system, visited the "Generaleksport"
Co. which owns the Belgrade Intercontinental Hotel. During
the talks with company General Manager Andrija Domazet, the
reputable guest from England expressed pleasure for the
current state of the Belgrade Intercontinental which managed
to keep up to the standards set by the international hotel

[10] LOANS HAVE BEEN ALLOCATED
Economic cooperation channels between Yugoslavia and Great
Britain have been newly established. Financial exchange
between the two countries has been reactivated. "A-YU" the
British bank with predominantly Yugoslav capital has been
granted permission to issue guarantees for credit lines to
companies from FR Yugoslavia. Informed sources reveal that
other British banks are considering the possibility of
crediting Yugoslav business transactions. (Politika Ekspres,

[11] JAIL FOR POSSESSION OF THE "FERAL TRIBUNE"
Mr. Mirko Franceschi - a reputable Croatian attorney that
defended 18 Serbs managing to secure 13 absolving sentences -
stated that the Croatian secret police and investigative
judges often qualify the "possession of the Feral Tribune
weekly as key evidence of conspiring activity". The series of
"pogrom" trials against Serbs in Croatia continues. 26 new
indictments have been raised against Serbian "spies" and
"terrorists". (Politika Ekspres, January 24, 1996)
[12] IMMINENT ROAD TRAFFIC TO GERMANY
Regular road transports between Yugoslavia and Germany will
bee established as soon as the competent bodies exchange the
relative permits. It has also been agreed that a certain
number of passenger lines between the two countries will be

[13] TURKISH INSTRUCTORS - OFFICIALLY
Quoting the Sarajevo Government Radio, France Press news
agency reported that according to an agreement signed in
Sarajevo, Turkey will train the Bosnian Moslem Army. The
protocol on cooperation has been signed by Turkish general
Erim Yaltsin, and by General Rasim Delic on behalf of the
