Biographical Information
Dr. Dennis Skiotis has been an Assistant Professor of History at Harvard University where he taught Modern Greek, Turkish and Ottoman history. From 1976 to 1984 he was also the Associate Director of the Harvard Center for Middle Eastern Studies. He has published on Ottoman history and the Greek War of Independence under such titles as: "Mountain Warriors and the Greek Revolution", "The Ottoman Empire at the turn of the Nineteenth Century" and "The Nature of the Greek Nation". In 1974, he was sent on a fact finding mission to Cyprus by the United States Senate and he co-authored two works for its Committee for Refugees and Escapees: "Crisis on Cyprus", "1974" and "Crisis on Cyprus, 1975: One Year After The Invasion". Dr. Skiotis is currently a Faculty member at the center for Middle Eastern Studies and the Director of Undergraduate Studies of the Department of History, Harvard University.
