The Hellenic Resources Institute in Cooperation with the Tufts University
Hellenic Society Present Acclaimed Journalist & Writer Misha Glenny
on "The Third Balkan War".
On April 27, 1995, the Hellenic Resources Institute (HRI),
Cambridge in cooperation with the Tufts University Hellenic Society,
welcome acclaimed journalist and writer Misha Glenny to the STAR
Auditorium at the Kennedy School of Government, Cambridge for a
lecture/presentation entitled, "The Third Balkan War."
Misha Glenny is a writer and broadcaster living in Thessaloniki, northern
Greece. During the first two years of the wars in Yugoslavia, he was the
Central Europe Correspondent of the BBC World Service based in Vienna,
working throughout central and southeastern Europe.
In articles and broadcasts, Mr. Glenny was one of the key correspondents,
who predicted the outbreak of war in both Croatia and Bosnia-Hercegovina.
Mr. Glenny has written for numerous publications including the New York
Times, the New York Book Review, Foreign Affairs,
Harper's Magazine, and
others. He has received acclaim both for his journalistic work and for
his book, The Fall of Yugoslavia: The Third Balkan War. Mr. Glenny is
also the author of The Rebirth of History: Eastern Europe in the Age of
Democracy. A speaker of German, Czech and Serbo-Croat, he has taken his
experiences, and is working on a history of Balkan nationalism over the
past two centuries.
The Hellenic Resources Institute, was founded by a group of young Greek
academics and professionals in May, 1993. HRI is based in Cambridge,
Massachusetts and Athens, Greece and is an independent, non-profit
organization whose goal is to create a link between the Greek public
policy maker and academicians, professionals, entrepreneurs and scientists
of the Greek Diaspora and the international community.
