Biographical Information
Dr. Vangelis Calotychos is Lecturer in Modern Greek Studies at the George Seferis Chair of Modern Greek, Department of The Classics, Harvard University. He earned his B.A. with Combined Honors in French and Modern Greek at the Universities of Birmingham, U.K. and Nice, France; his M.A. in English Literature at The Ohio State University; and his Ph.D in Comparative Literature at Harvard University (1993). He is a member of the Executive Body of Modern Greek Studies Association and on the Advisory Assembly of the Hellenic Resources Institute. His scholarship focusses on European poetry and criticism, literary theory, and cultural studies. He has organized an interdisciplinary conference on "Cyprus and its People: New Interdisciplinary Perspectives", held at Harvard in December 1994. He is writing a book on the relationship of ideology and form in Greek poetics since the foundation of the modern Greek state.
