Eleni Mahaira-Odoni: Biographical Note
ELENI MAHAIRA-ODONI, political scientist. Mahaira-Odoni has
taught political theory and international law for several years. While an
Editorial Associate of Telos, she translated extensively from French and
Italian on Western European politics, economics, philosophy, and
culture. She also published critical reviews with partiuclar emphasis on
the political philosophy of Jean-Paul Sartre; among them, ``Sartre
Revisited'' (Telos, no. 80, 1989), and ``Sartre's Paradox''
(Telos, no. 81, 1989). In 1991, she produced her debut vocal
recording ``Mistral,'' released by Zoning Records. In 1992 she translated
and edited for the Pontiki Press the Greek version of Monteagle Stearns's
Entangled Allies: U.S. Policy in Greece, Turkey, and Cyprus
(Council on Foreign Relations, 1992). She has contributed a long chapter on
Greek ``Government and Politics'' for the volume Greece: A Country
Study (Library of Congress, 1995). She is the Greek translator of the
book, The Greek Paradox: Promise vs. Performance, G. T. Allison
and Kalypso Nicolaidis, eds., (M.I.T. Press, 1997). She is currently
translating from English and French a collaborative volume on byzantine
agricultural economy to be published in Greece by the Cultural Foundation
of the National Bank of Greece. She is co-chair of the Greek Study Group at
the Center for European Studies of Harvard University.
