The American Embassy in Belgrade has issued the following announcement to the local American community:

There have been several post-election demonstrations in Belgrade and other urban centers since the municipal elections in Serbia on November 17, 1996. While these demonstrations have not been violent to date, American citizens are urged to exercise caution around all such demonstrations and rallies.

For further information on travel to Serbia, consult the Department of State's Consular Information Sheet on Serbia and Montenegro dated January 31, 1996.

This Public Announcement will expire on December 20, 1996.
